school violence linked to video games

Grossman, an expert on school violence, went on to trace a connection between the two, complete with brain scans and a study of juvenile murderers. And he pitched a singular idea to gathered educators – a 10-day television, movie and video game “detox” in their schools and districts.

what say ye?

Absolutely.

I do that on a regular basis in my house. We detox from TV, Video Games, and such every so often. Days at a time.

Video games, TV robs a child of mental freedom. So you have to monitor them and usage. They become isolated and boxed in.. when they have friends, siblings, toys, yards, bikes, trees, dirt etc.

Bad attitudes can be gauged as video playtime increases and parental monitoring is removed. When I slightly detect it... all digital goes off. TV, Video, Handhelds, Computer etc.

I call it a "Digital-Free Day". After a few hours... you see toys, creative thinking returns, positive interaction between siblings, etc etc.

It's not easy... but it's worth it.

the bible is just as violent, and in most cases, more violent than video games. the government probably wants a bible detox as well.

ive read an article that had a study that stated kids who play violent video games are less likely to commit violent crimes because they have an outlet for the anger to be released in video games.

so who knows?.... anyone can come up some kind of "study" with some "statistics". the world needs some major healing thats for sure.

I say it is stupid to generalize, generally. :lol:

My son got his first NES at age 5 and became an ardent video gamer. He has owned and used every major system released since, and worked for years at GameStop. He is well-balanced, funny, sociable, smart, talented, and about as non-violent as can be.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)
