Absolutely.
I do that on a regular basis in my house. We detox from TV, Video Games, and such every so often. Days at a time.
Video games, TV robs a child of mental freedom. So you have to monitor them and usage. They become isolated and boxed in.. when they have friends, siblings, toys, yards, bikes, trees, dirt etc.
Bad attitudes can be gauged as video playtime increases and parental monitoring is removed. When I slightly detect it... all digital goes off. TV, Video, Handhelds, Computer etc.
I call it a "Digital-Free Day". After a few hours... you see toys, creative thinking returns, positive interaction between siblings, etc etc.
It's not easy... but it's worth it.
