Did you cook and eat it? I know a young woman who was camping and killed a rattle snake. She cooked and ate it. When I ask why, she said she was hungry.

Between 54 - 60 inches in length. It was a Timber Rattler (Canebrake rattler).

The operative word there is "was".

thankfully, the only snakes we have here in the Pacific Northwest is the occassional garter snake.

which had 14 rattles and a button

So, what does the rattles represent? 1 rattle for every year?
And what is the button? I have heard of rattles before, but never a button.
Let the wild rumpus start!

The button is the very tip. With growth it becomes the 15th rattle and so on. 8)
