I agree with the liability issues as well as she should have been prepared but she has been judged here. She was called tacky more than once even by you Pastor Bill.

Full Quiver,

I believe we are calling the practice "tacky" but go ahead and judge us for judging her.....

I think it was a counterfeit $20 and the ushers should consider carrying around those pens. :-)

You joke, but that is actually one of the reasons that was given to me at Assembly that we are not allowed to give change, in large public gatherings like that many have done that.

As for judging her by calling her tacky, I wasn't speaking about a specific person, but the practice in general. As I am sure you are aware as Christians we are told to judge actions, not hearts. saying we are judging the person because we are discussing an action is most of the time just an attempt to deflect the discussion. I've seen it in discussion of everything from homosexuality to tithing, and it just doesn't hold water. This person may not have been aware of these issues, may have never set foot in a church before, I don't know, and I can't judge her over it, but I can say, and I do say that the action is tacky, and should be avoided.

Why is it that we don't mind being judged for our good but always play the "you judged me card" if our bad actions are judged?

I'm sorry, Danny, for judging you for judging me while I judge others.

again, we are to judge actions, not people, but unfortunately if we are responsible for those actions, we tend to take it personally, good or bad, taking credit for the good, and getting upset over the bad, but neither are really about how "good" we are, because Christ himself said, there is none good but God.

so if it is $100.00 , I want to give half $50 , does that change it. or $1000.00 I need $100 back ? Does that change anything also I want to
give it to you . Should I keep it all and not be tacky?

Yes, I don't think it's a matter of the amount, although if you are giving $1000 and wanting $100 back we should probably provide you with a receipt, I think it's required for gifts of over $500 (or at least highly recommended).

You know you are going to church. You know you have a bill that is bigger than you want to or can give. Stop at the 7-11 and get change. Problem solved.

There's a simple solution. Just write a check.

whoa, a check! Talk about slowing down the offering reception. Better make that check out before church.
