Well I will go first. Since the announcement of the IGA being here in Greensboro 2 years ago I have been looking forward to it.

It was a great Assembly. Sermons were outstanding, the CA P&W team was OFF THE HOOK. Even the music during the offerings was great. Bro Steve Wilson did a great job in the Morning worship time.

Business session was uneventful. Went like clock work and Bro Howard had to fill some time in.

The Mission Encounter was a huge success.

One thing that was not mentioned much was the Youth Sports Camp. At this facility they had the Auditorium, The Events Center, the Coliseum and also the Pavilion. My Gkids and nephew got to go over there a few sessions. Enjoyed it a lot. They had basketball, Volleyball, frisbee, kickball and yes even ping pong set up for the kids to chill and not just be walking around and around the coliseum (even though that is a very important youthful activity).

Kids church was sort of like VBS/Camp in the AM with different activities and full blown kids church in the PM. Jaron Burkhardt from NC/Texas did a great job

For the most part I stayed away from down on the floor for services etc but Sat Night for the Youth service I went down and got 50yard seats 12 rows back. Awesome. That is where you not only hear the P&W but its felt also. Except the floating Camera pointing at you :(..

Enough rambling will let more share.

Watched a lot of it online...

The preaching was just superb. Sam Clements did a marvelous job, as did my great friend Dr Steve Land....and Jack Hayford...HE IS ALWAYS GREAT.

The music was good...the Bahama Band was STUPENDOUS..

The California Worship team was good...just TOO MUCH and TOO LONG...I'm a two songs and a chorus guy (at the most)...in my opinion.

The Prayer Times every morning, led by Steve Wilson, were really, really great....he was definitely SPIRIT-LED in these sessions...I watched just about every morning.

Bishop Howard's address was inspiring, encouraging, and just all around terrific...but then what else is new?

Only "developments" to speak of on the business side is the hiring of a real estate/construction firm to evaluate and give options to deal with Church Properties (i.e. headquarters, TC, Fields of the Wood).

Bishop Howard mentioned several possibilities, such as selling headquarters and moving onto TC campus, etc, etc. We'll have a proposals on the table in several months, with action coming in 2012, I believe.

I also recall the BDP Committee saying something about an indepth study regarding Bible translations.

You may have heard that we are aiming for an on-campus presence of TC in 2014.

Best thing to do might be to look up the videos posted on Youtube by International Offices and give them a looking at.

One interesting change (to me) was Jeff Davis headed to NC as state overseer.

Dr. Renfro

Postby Faith rider » August 2nd, 2010, 2:17 pm

I though that Dr. Tim Renfro brought the best message, he should have been on program during an evening service.

Bro. Clements message was heart stirring, and Bro. Howard challenged us.

Dr. Hayford seem to be teaching more than preaching, which I enjoyed, he did put some meat of the word out for us to digest.

Dr. Land also said some good things, even though he talks fast.

P&W was good, but I miss singing some of the old hymns, they still have a place in our church.

The fellowship & seeing old friends is priceless.

Th emission encounter was a blessing.

And when Elwood introduced Roberta to sing, my heart felt sad, but rejoiced at the same time knowing that all our ministers that have gone onto thier reward will always live in our hearts.

Just my thoughst on the assembly, looking forward to 2012.

And if you think Steve Land talked fast in this message, you should have taken a few classes with him at the seminary---I did...I'm still recovering from trying to get those notes down!

We spent most of our time over at the Children's Ministry area serving as ushers/security I can say I really enjoyed Brother Howard's message Saturday Morning, he made some really good points.

I THINK I saw a Jude 2 person at that service about 2 rows in front of me with her daughter, but she didn't turn around, and I had to go forward to give out some cards at the altar call, so I didn't get to catch her at the end of the service.

My daughter was ready to pack up and move with PG, and we enjoyed our time at the Mission encounter with them.

Usual caveat: I'm not COGOP.
Usual qualifier to that: But, I'm a fan.

This may be the Assembly that goes down as one of or "the" one where the COGOP actually looked forward as opposed to mostly grappling with the past. I got to see a few snippets of sessions online while I was in the office last week, and I was just overwhelmed at the (dare I say it?) professionalism of the speakers. It wasn't just an air of formality and nice elocution; it was a spirit of confidence that I sensed, the kind that you see when people know what needs to be done and are at least trying to effectively communicate that. Not proud, but confident. Bro. Howard as General Overseer .... I mean, you know, my relationship with him was just what I knew of him at TC. He was the kind of fellow that you could be at good humor with him but at the same time you trusted him as a pastoral figure. And, now, some 18 years after those days at TC when I knew him, he's grown and those gifts from God that were nascent then are just blossoming now. He wouldn't remember me for $1 million and a gun to his head, but the path that he's been on sort of reflects (from this outsider's point of view) the path of the leadership of the COGOP. And, if I'm you guys in the COGOP, I'd have to feel (to the extent feelings matter) pretty doggone good about things. There's adversity and problems, sure, but your vision? It's a good one. I pray that all of the words preached, taught, imparted there last week come to a big-time fruition in due time.
Human government bears the same relation to hell as the church bears to heaven. (David Lipscomb, On Civil Government, 72).

It was me :) I did not see you till the alter call was given and I did not want to go say hello during that time.

If I seen you before that I wouod have went and said hello even if they were preaching (bad me)

It is a matter of historical note that NC has their first non-white Overseer. Jeff is a fine man and will be a great leader for NC. I'm sure the people there will welcome him and assist with the huge culture-shock transition from California guy to southerner.
