Trouble in the NABORhood

Postby carant894 » November 12th, 2009, 4:01 pm

Nabors has been disfellowshiped from his church and booted out as GO for alledgedly having an affair with a general appointee.

His wife, daughter, & son-in-law are among the accusers.

I smell another church split coming.

Somebody pass the popcorn.

Actually, joking aside, this is sad...... so sad.

Carant894,

As much as this wouldn't surprise me, I have to ask, do you have any known reliable source(s) for this info, or is anonymity and the grapevine all there is?

Poimen,

What is stated as fact has been confirmed. In referring to the affair, I used the word "alledgedly". It is a fact that he has been accused, it is a fact that he has been disfellowshipped.

I named three sources as accusers...his wife, daughter, son-in-law. There are alledgedly many eye witnesses and photos of the misconduct. But, I have not seen the photos. I can only confirm that there was enough evidence for the presbytery to take action. And, I have been told by many sources within the group that Brother and Sister Nabors have seperated.

Poimen- if you need confirmation, instead of calling me out as a gossip and someone spreading the grapevine. Why not do as I did when I first started hearing the rumors, pick up the phone and call some of the members in the group. Names of a few that will confirm this... Jerry Wilda, Alex Jackson, Cary Ryan, etc.

I am not trying to spread gossip. I am simply making people aware that there has been a change made in this organization and why. There has been much discussion on these boards regarding the many splits and the past difference between the Nabors & Smith groups. I felt this would be a good forum to relay this information so that some can put things in perspective.

Both of these group claim to be the "exclusive" Church of God/ Body of Christ and both have been led by tongues & interpretation to put these men in their respective positions. (I will not get into Smith's past, you all already know about that).

Love in Christ,
Brother Carant

Brother Carant,

To my knowledge I do not know you. However, I do ask you to forgive me this unintended offense. I didn't mean for my words to appear accusative.

Please permit me to clarify that I was asking as to the nature of the source on this info itself -- whether it was credible, known, reliable or not. I called it "grapevine" information because that is what secondhand news is -- grapevine chatter. It need not be malicious/gossip to be heard through the grapevine. It only need be heard once (or more) removed from individuals with direct knowledge of the facts.

Thank you for clarifying that have you have spoken with individuals directly involved and aware of the facts. That certainly lends credence to the information.

Like I said, it doesn't surprise me. I have known James Nabors for several years, and though we were never close or anything, I experienced enough of His maneuverings to see his true spiritual colors several years back. I hate that it took this long, and something of this magnitude, to permit others he hoodwinked to be able to see.

That said, my prayers are with the family, friends, & church he leaves dazed and wounded. I also pray for him and the person with whom he had the affair, that they may find grace to repent and be restored, and that they may find reconciliation with their loved ones.

Except for the grace of God, there go I.

Four Overseers (Jerry Wilda, Alex Jackson, Arturo Avelis, Jose Castellanos) met to claim that Brother Nabors is no longer General Overseer. They had no authority to do this. Therefore, he is still General Overseer. Those four that made this declaration and those who follow them have thus started a new group. James Nabors is guilty of no wrong doing. There is no proof because he has done nothing wrong. Ralph and Shirley Lester are also supporting this new group.

The fact that Diane has left Brother Nabors and is now living with Cary & Jill (their daughter), and the meeting that you referenced took place in the home of Cary & Jill, and they claim to have about a dozen witness and photos. Things are not looking so good for James Nabors.

By the way, I have been told that the only support that Nabors may still have would be from the Cookeville, Tennessee church, home of Tennessee state overseer Scott Hatten. I am not sure what Scott's first inital is. But, it makes me wonder who posted the above quote. HMMMMM?!?!? I could be wrong in my assumption, but it sounds good, doesn't it?

Just a question? Do you think or know if this is the first time he, JN, has failed in this way? Again, just a question.

To further intensify the drama, Scott's wife is the one with whom the alledged affair took place with.

OK I have not heard any of this until I read this. Here is the name is K Scott Hatton, (he is my cousin) Not sure what you mean by "home Church" Scott is from KY, but lives in Cleveland. He is the overseer and he is not a pastor, it is my understanding that it is Nabors family that is at the Cookville Church.

I have met Nabors twice in my life, he came to the hospital when my grandmother was about to pass and he came to the funeral. He brought his wife then and they were very nice people.

I do not believe Amy would have an affair ever, I don't believe that is the case. Someone could make allegations for that matter anyone can make allegations and there is nothing you can do about that. I have seen many ministers who do a lot of traveling that have had affairs, and alot that have allegations made by a spouse that feels neglected and feels like something is going on, but it is not the case.

Not sure when all this started or what but I know that Scott and Amy's oldest Daughter has had some very serious medical conditions and they have been at the hospital alot lately, I have had family that has been at their house and when I called to ask them about this, they said they do know that Nabors is having problems with some in the church. And I don't believe an affair is possible and i would never ask that question, not because I am afraid it was true, but because I think I know them and I know this would not happen.

Also I question the statement "eye witnesses and photos" not sure but to me that sounds fishy, if there was an affair with someone, what are there PI's running around taking pictures? While people may see something they think is not right, but if it was an affair how do you have "eye witnesses" and something not be said then unless it was something of a set up.

if this is true, it is sad news, and prayers are happening for all involved and the people that might have their faith shaken because of the failings of a man. if it is not true, then prayer still happening for all the challenges they are going throug becuase of the rumors and gossip. either way, prayers happening for the people involved that God will have His way, no matter the cituation, and circumstances.

I have heard that Nabors has been accused before (in Missouri, I think).
But, all of this is speculation. This is why I have been careful to use the word "alledged".

The fact is that there is a group within the Nabors organization that believes this to be true. As a matter fact, I have spoken to several within the organization and have yet to speak to one that does not believe that the affair happened.

I also am very shocked and find it hard to believe that the Hatten's could be involved in any way. But, the accusations are there. And it is divding that church and has divided the Nabors family.

When I say it doesn't look good for Nabors, I am not saying that Nabors is guilty. I am just saying that Nabors wife has left him, kids have turned on him, the majority of his church family has turned on him. If he is innocent this is very unfortunate for him. But, he has caused a lot of pain and heartache to many a few years ago, so I will not shed a tear for him.

Ok I guess I am looking at this from a family stand point and maybe that is coloring my vision. Yes the allegations were made but I am surprised that so many on here are assuming everything is true.

I am not saying it is or is not true, I do not believe that is it with who some have said it was with. But according to some he is guilty and that is that.

It is like that whole saying... When everything is known, if that is not the case. Where do they go to get their reputation back.

I hate to see this about anybody... it never ends well
