Hayford at Assembly

Postby Pastor Gary » October 30th, 2009, 12:28 pm

Dr. Jack Hayford to Speak at International Assembly

The (COGOP) General Overseer's Office officially announced today that Dr. Jack Hayford will be speaking at next year's 96th International Assembly.

Of Dr. Hayford, General Overseer Randall Howard said, "Dr. Hayford has been such a great spokesperson for Pentecostalism, a role model for pastors, and a wonderful Christian leader. When considering special guests for this Assembly, our leaders were unanimous in their desire to invite him. We are stepping into a new threshold as a movement; and with this Assembly, we want to effectively let our pastors know that we are committed to invest in them. The development of leadership, especially pastoral leadership, is our highest priority for the years to come."

Dr. Hayford will share in two segments on Friday, July 30, during the morning and evening sessions. The morning session will focus on pastors and lay leaders. In the evening, Dr. Hayford will share a message on "Pursuing His Spirit," which is the theme of the Assembly.

Bishop Howards shares, "Our prayer is that this session would bring an infusion of the Spirit and inspiration to our pastors and leaders. We are anticipating a work of the Spirit, whether in a still, small voice, a direct Word from the Lord, a general touch of renewal, or whatever God wills."

Dr. Hayford has served as President of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel; Founder and Chancellor of The King's College and Seminary; and Director of The JWH School of Pastoral Nurture. He is most widely known as Founding Pastor of The Church On The Way, Van Nuys, CA, where he was senior pastor from 1969-1999, and he still ministers on occasion as pastor-emeritus. He has authored 52 books and written more than 400 musical works, and serves on various international/interdenominational committees and councils. He is most referred to as "Pastor Jack"-his preferred title.

The 96th International Assembly of the Church of God of Prophecy will be held July 27-August 1, 2010 in Greensboro, North Carolina. For additional information, visit http://cogop.org/257395.ihtml.

Excellent choice. I am excited for you and I know that all will be greatly blessed.
You cannot effectively love and minister to others when you are obsessed with protecting
and preserving yourself.

To the core. I've been in two conferences where he taught me to sleep.

Is his style more preaching or teaching?

what was boring, the content or the delivery?

i can see him teaching classes but to be the keynote is frustrating to me. to many "preacher" preachers out there to choose from. we should leave the assembly fired up, not sleepy. not trying to take anything from the man at all. i have the utmost respect him. just wish we would stop experimenting.

his delivery is very dry. reminds me of a methodist minister over the age of 80.

dawgs...no offense but that just might be some of the problem in many pentecostal churches, No depth... Dr. Hayford might not be the D.H. quenner style but his depth and knowledge is incrediable. I think i3f preachers will listen to what he has to say they will leave not only fired up but will be better equipped to really make an impact.

His material on Intergirty is awsome. We use his material in all our bible colleges.

I still think it is a really good choice.

Which is better: Pep rally with a bunch of yelling or a message with life changing, God inspired word on growth and leadership?

or a service with some very good sleep!! i know this comes down to taste. but again, teachers teach. and should be given time to do so. preachers preach and should do so during the services. only my opinion.

Can you cite me a scriptural example of Jesus preaching a barn-burner, get-em-all-shoutin' message?
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

I give up.

Let's don't get one of the greatest minds and most respected leaders in Pentecostal Christianity to address our Assembly when there are shoutin', sweatin', screaming in the mic PREACHER preachers available.

I give up.
