It's all the more amazing considering this from the Nobel website:
The deadline for nominating a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize is February 1.

http://nobelpeaceprize.org/en_GB/about_peaceprize/important-dates/
Talk about hitting the ground running, 13 days into his presidency he's nominated to join the ranks of such notables as: Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, Mikhail Gorbachev and Yasser Arafat.

CantBCoy, that was my first thought, too.

Surprised? No. For one, I didn't even know they were awarding them today or this week or month. I don't generally keep up with the Nobels since Arafat won a peace prize. Second, Arafat won it; they'll give it to anybody. If Hitler were alive today, he'd win a Nobel Peace Prize. You're only in pursuit of peace if you're capitulating to people who hate Jews. They specifically cited his outreach to "Muslim nations". (Don't bother citing to me that Rabin won one, too; that was meaningless since they gave one to Arafat.) Jimmy Carter got one, for pete's sake. So, no, I'm not surprised. The media is play-acting surprise to bring drama and significance to an utterly laughable award after the "surprise" of Chicago going out first round in the Olympics venue vote last week. This is all an effort to elevate Barack Hussein Obama mmm...mmmm....mmm. (Why do I have a taste for Campbell's soup?)

Maybe more Christians are praying for him than we originally thought?

Congrats on this high honor Mr. President.

The Nobel Peace Prize is and has been for quite some time a joke. It's all about political connections.
