Regardless of your politics

Postby Pastor Gary » October 24th, 2008, 11:54 pm

Regardless of your political views, this is a photo of a human being in pain; a man facing the imminent death of a grandmother he loved, a woman who raised him and cared for him.

I voted against him. I disagree with almost all of his political views. As a Christian, however, my heart is filled with compassion for the pain he must have been feeling as he took this solitary walk through the old neighborhood today and knew that within hours he would kiss his grandmother goodbye, perhaps never to see her alive again.

Can we separate our politics from our faith? Can we have enough Jesus in us to feel sympathy for Barack Obama, even while campaigning for his opponent?
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Regardless of your politics

I feel compassion for anyone going through the loss of a loved one......even non-believers have that sometimes. It is the "human" thing to do ....let alone the Christian thing to do.

I have prayed much for him.....mainly that God would speak to his heart.

I agree with your post. He needs prayer.

Absolutely. I stated earlier in another similar post that I pray his grandmother recovers.

She was really more like his mother. His real mother was kind of a flake who trapsed around the world and left Barry with her mom to raise. I do feel for him, although I wouldn't vote for him if you pointed a loaded shotgun at my skull.

Not to seem cold, but it is easy to love our own. But what about the lives of the unborn babies he so callously advocates murdering?

Is it, for you, either or... you can either care about the lives of the unborn or have compassion for a man losing his granny?

"Mourn with those who mourn" seems pretty plain to me. As far as his stance on abortion, I pity the man. He'll answer to God for it, unless he repents.

I think it speaks volumn for who raised him. It wasn't about his mother or his birth father the credit goes too but a white grandmother.

Why do you have to say "A WHITE grandmother"? Does everything have to be about race? This doesn't have to do with his politics or his race...the man - one of Elohim's creation - is in need of our prayers.

Can't we just pray for Senator Obama to have comfort at this time of need and not turn it political or racial?

I will be praying for him, just as I pray for all here when there is a need, regardless of affiliation, color of our skin, etc! And I am also praying for the peace of Jerusalem and ask that you do the same.

After seeing how he helps out his brother in Africa, I tend to suspect that the whole thing is "just for show".

Gerald... this saddens me.
I know you are a real skeptic in terms of ministries and doctrines, but I am genuinely surprised at your lack of compassion.

As one who has lost a mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and several dear friends in recent years, I can relate to what Obama must be feeling.

Gary, if it were one of the Clintons, a lot of folks would be wondering if he'd had her killed for the sympathy vote. Politics IS cynical, and Gerald is only being the same Gerald he always is.

Why?

If Obama had a heart would he let his own brother (or half whatever) live in such abject squalor?

Is this not evidence of his type of "humanity"?

I'm only going by what he has shown before. His modus operandi.

Why should I have compassion on such a hard heart?

I'd say the same thing if it was McCain alowing his close relative to live in the dirt while he wallowed in luxury.

Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, I will repay. Because you have been treated better than you deserve by God, Gerald, you are expected to treat others as you have been treated.
