A prophecy

Postby Dr. Ron » October 13th, 2008, 12:40 pm

Now that I have your attention:

I am not a prophet. I don't even know if I believe in everything that claims it's validity in the prophetic.

But I am certain of some things in my life. They are not negotiable.

Yesterday, after the 1st service, I was feeling very much like the next group needed a special something. I preached on the prayer of dependence. As I was sitting in my seat waiting and praying for the P&W to end, the Lord began to give me something very special in my heart.

We are in a time of great upheaval. Our nation and our world has finally reached the place where it doesn't know what to do or how to do it......

And the Lord spoke to me that this is not a time for lamenting....It is a time to return to "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms". I walked up on stage and signaled the P&W director that I wanted the service. We began to sing that old hymn and God began to bless our people. We ministered to several all over the building.

My belief is ........that as things get worse, people will return to the God of their fathers.......

I can't wait to see what He has in store for us next.

Dr Ron,we also sang this hymn and God moved greatly in our church. We are a very small church (COG),but God was with us.We also had the Lord's Supper and this always blesses me in a great way.

I almost lost out on this blessing,I almost stayed at home ,because I wasn't feeling too well, but I decided to go anyway and I am so glad that I did.

Thank you for sharing about your church. We know GOD is GOD and He is The Everlasting Arms, this may sound foolish to some but we that know God knows that He knows His children and He will take care of us.

Sorry for the long post, but when I saw your post I had to reply.

Yes, I believe that too.

That Song

Postby Martha » October 13th, 2008, 5:20 pm

I too, sang that song yesterday. Just me and God in a private worship time. My car is in the shop and I couldn't go to church. I just sat down at the piano and that song was on my mind. How awesome is it that even though I couldn't get to a church building I could still worship Him! We may find ourselves in that position more often as times get worse. I'm so thankful for that personal relationship.

That hymn was written in Hartselle, Alabama at the old Oden House, now a bed and breakfast owned by my friends, Ray and Ann Hill.

This goes very well in line with what the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me lately. Hold on to God for dear life and don't let go.

A prophecy

Postby Dr. Ron » October 14th, 2008, 4:09 am

See, this is the message we should be preaching...

The world isn't excited about the return of Christ when they don't know him or believe in him......Right now, too many Americans think he is running for president.

We need to be showing calm resolve in the face of adversity and proving that faith in God and relationship to Christ is what the world needs...not worrying about "signs of the times"..

People don't get excited about someone returning that they are not aquainted with...

So.....it appears that God is reaching out to HIs children and saying..." You can call on me brother ...when you need a friend...we all need somebody to lean on....."

EXACTLY. Haven't you seen me particularly calm? The Lord has shown me that no matter how low the stock market goes or how high the gas goes or whatever President is in the oval office... (or what hymns we sing! LOL)

HE still controls every breath and every molecule in between. I could give you some examples recently.. but you get the message already.

Praise MY God, MY Deliverer, MY Lord. I'm getting excited. Let's show the FRUITS of knowing Christ my brothers and sisters. Let the world be crazy and desperate. That is not us.

We too experienced a heavy anointing and presence of the Holy Spirit on Sunday with and emphasis on focusing our eyes upward during difficult times...This scripture was shared during the service from Hebrews 12:28 (NIV):

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire."

I just read this post today, but our Sunday as well was very blessed with an emphasis on the 91st Psalm. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderfully God works in the lives of those who love Him.

Personally the Lord has been dealing with me very direct, very securely, very intense, and letting me know I can trust in him. He has urged me to just give it all to Him.

Sunday's service was great and refreshing. There was a line in a song that said greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world. I know this is from the Scriptures and have heard it and used it many times. The Lord ministered to me in all this. Usually we say that he that is in the world is Satan but God spoke to me and let me know that He is greater than I. In other words greater is the Lord within me than I in this world. :D

I didn't know that. I live in Hartselle and pass the Oden house everyday. I looked up the history here:

This sounds like me, every Sunday.

Oh, Lord? They're not gonna go around and sing it again for the 6th...oh yes, yes they are...and the worship leaders voice is quavering...and that guarantees a 7th and possible 8th repretition.

I know. I know. that's not what you meant.

That's the first account I've read where Prof. Showalter only wrote the chorus. I'd read -- somewhere -- that he'd written one or two of the verses, and the chorus, but not the music. At any rate, it was written partially in Hartselle! Do you know the Hills? Sweet, sweet people. Catch 'em at the right time, and you can eat there for lunch. I have. Ann is a caterer, too. And good. They bought the house next door from a friend of mine, Jeff Speegle (who used to go the same church as we did, he's a great drummer), and converted it into a sort of dining house where people schedule wedding dinners, bridal showers, businesses have special occasions there, etc. They stay pretty busy. They've worked very hard on it over the past several years. They have some historic references there, too, about the hymn. There have been some articles in the Decatur Daily, other papers, some years ago about it. If you ever get a reason to visit, you should. Great people.
