PTL! for TCOG's contribution to the work of the Kingdom

Postby Poimen » August 8th, 2008, 1:40 pm

I was just listening to the web cast. I missed the Overseer's annual address earlier. But Brother Carter reitterated some of the statistics from it since he represents the Evangalism Department.

TCOG saw, among other works of God, some 9000+ souls added to the Kingdom through their combined efforts this past year. That's encouraging news, wherever you are, and whatever church you may be in.

Praise The Lord!!!

skeptical of course

How many of those 9,000 were "backsliders" that prayed back through?

How many of those "backsliders" prayed through more than once in the past year and were thus counted on a report?

How many spirits did TCoG crush and then those turned from the Lord?
I know of one who absolutely denounced Christ.

The question is how many Bishop Lanny Carter?

Ya know, sometimes it's good to critique, but to be so negative in the face of rejoicing in that Christ is preached -- man that's disturbing. Besides, the questions you asked can be asked of every church or orginazation out there, not just TCOG. Retention, discipleship, and "friendly fire" are huge issues in the American church collectively.

Perhaps this old adage would have been a better course of pursuit in your case here -- "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all."

I don't promote lies though.

Not every church is guilty of such though.

That may be so. But it is unlikely. I'll rephrase. These problems are in most all churches. Have you not seen or heard some of the statistics from various orginzations here in America regarding these very things?:

Well Chris I can assure you that the Baptists aren't counting their own folks twice. This is the church we are referring to; they should be above such.

No dog in the war between all the XXXXOG. But I will join in to say I am thankful to the Lord and rejoice when a soul comes to Christ, even if it was for the tenth time......wether they have back-slid, fallen out of relationship with God or simply grown cold in their Spoirit and don't care anyloner. They have returned and the prodical son story lives on.

As far as the number and the count once, twice..WHO GIVES A RIP... It is God that keep the true record...thats all that matters

I'm reminded of a funny, but true, account shared by John Maxwell concerning his personal ministry. He shared that he once questioned just how important reports were to Headquarters representatives, etc. He said that one year he sent in that he had 1 new convert to no response, so the next year he sent in that he had 20,000 new converts to no response. From this, he gleaned that reports made very little difference to those working in Headquarters offices. :)

I would like to say I personally have allot of respect for your spirit and attitude about TCOG even though, you don't see things the same. It is so refreshing to see people move on in their lives and continue to have a Christ like Spirit. I pray God blesses you for your kindness and respect towards all.

Paul, now you cracked me up. I am thrilled beyond measure that God keeps good records. Praise his holy name!!!!

How can we find negative in souls being saved??????????
I really wonder, If 10,000 souls are saved tomorrow and all were backsliders would we not rejoice? Second souls being saved are counted by most all organizations whether backslid or not.
I dont know why you would assume that anyway, though it does not matter either way.....

It matters when the only souls that some local churches see "saved" are those on their own rolls and watch that backslid just months earlier. That was my point and that stuff certainly happened in TCoG in TN. I know some folks that would "pray through" several times a year. Now each time represented a soul saved on a report. A good ministry would not see this happening but rather would have strong Christians and not all these backsliders. Just think about youth camp. The same kids getting saved every year.

You want to do something for the kingdom, read and practice Ephesians 4. Equip those that are saved to do the work of the ministry instead of allowing church to be so dry they wither away and die. Sometimes I wonder who is lost, the backslider or their pastor.

so out of 9000 you think that is the case..come on brother, surely it oculd not be new converts correct.... More are saved and stay saved then those that dont but if you really believe it is a tcog thing that has people that backslide you are mistaken.
I really am trying to figure out again why the negative approach to 9000 people being saved, would it be if it was mentioned that your church had 9000 saved? I mean no disrespect but some of these comments would have to reflect me as I am a member, that must be withering and dry..........
