Voting privacy?

Postby Pastor Gary » November 4th, 2008, 10:06 am

Watching TV coverage of the big election,. I keep seeing places where ballots/voting machines are practically out in the open, where a person's vote could be potentially viewed by others.

We have curtained enclosures here.

Where you vote, can you mark your ballot in total privacy?

I was out in the open but no one was behind me. Someone could have seen me if they were deliberately trying to but I would have seen them.

I could have gone behind a curtain but chose to sit at a table.

Ours is out in the open but it is away from all other people... It is just you, God and your beliefs...

No curtain, but blinders on the side and anyone could see if someone was talking to you or coming up to you.

No curtains... My wife and I discussed issues while voting side by side. There were a couple of issues up for vote that she was not sure of and ask me about.

No drapes, but each had blinders completely enclosing the computer. Unless you stood behind me and looked over my shoulder you could not see the screen.

Mail in ballot. I have all the privacy I want. I havent been to an actual voting location since the 90's. But even then, there were no curtains.

Wide open fellowship hall (at the Twillytown COGOP 8) ) with round tables and NO barricades or curtains of any kind here.
It was sort of an "honor system" I guess. *shrugs*

Ours are seperated by dividers. However if you didn't want to wait, then you could just sit at a table out in the open. However, the guy next to me voted for McCain

The T-town COGOP is an official polling place? Nice.

In Hawaii it is almost always public school cafeterias. I don't know of any churches being used at all.

We have the blinders and they seem to work well. A large number of our polling places are in churches, we also use schools. I went about 2 PM and there was no line at all but they did say there was a very long lime when they first opened and are expecting and even longer one about 5 PM.
