Dale - what are your reservations? It's a ministry that is by the book - the bible that is. It takes you from Denial of sin, to asking God into your life, to asking hurt people in your life to forgive you, dealing with your character flaws through Christ, and then sharing your story with others so that they can come to the faith and you can start being part of the body of Christ.
But most of all, it accepts those that have been cast aside by the church. The woman at the well would have been in CR. Zacchaeus had a type of CR meeting in his home that night with Jesus.
Just saying.... It aint a bad thing if you're bringing in the ones that dont feel like the can go to church because they are too dirty.

Show me in the Bible were we must continue to rehash our past hurts, habits and hang ups with other folk, week after week? The last i read in the Bible God does not remember past sins, so why do we after we have been forgiven?

I agree with all of this but to continually to rehash the past sins? I think there is a need to help folk with their issues from the past, but where i was involved, the same ones week after week, year after year(with some there were no change)...same story, same past...every week....for some reason, I think the God that i know(of course one must be willing to allow God) does quick work...Maybe i didnt see this as you do...but it became a routine diet for some that attened to just be a social event for the week.Sorry...MHO.

Sorry, not trying to belittle CR...im sure there are lots of folks that have benefited from this ministry....from where i sit....i didnt see as much....

But just so you know....if there were anyone that is really hurting and needing some change in their lives and that i feel could use this...i would recommend CR..as long as that location was doing it right....

Dale, I think this is where having a really good pastor over the CR ministry, and some really good leaders makes all the difference in the success of this ministry. You can't get bogged down. THat ISN'T true healing. Sadly, I am sure there are some CRs that do not do the ministry correctly and it ends up being like you have described. In our particular meetings, it is our goal for everyone to leave there encouraged and uplifted with hope.

Technically, it's a "unique" SB church.

This is great. I'm seeing this more and more. It seems to me that ALL of the different denominations are doing this. SB, COGOP, etc. I attended a Church of Christ that claimed to be a "continuation of the reformation".

It seems to me like we're ALL coming closer together, questioning ourselves more, studying the scriptures more, etc. That's as it should be. It's great to come up in this generation and see ALL of God's children making a move toward lifting Him up more and loving each other more. Fabulous!

Oh, and as far as the program, it sounds like it's doing some good. I've seen it work in some churches. I don't see why it wouldn't work in others.

I just learn that the church i use to attend where i was involded in CR has closed that ministry....but there r other issues in that church as well. so maybe at another place and another time and given the proper leadrship...i could see CR as a valuable ministry....Im all for helping folk who needs help in getting closer to our Lord...
