It never made sense to me that people who were bought by the blood of Jesus Christ -- the same blood that was shed to liberate us from sin, disease, poverty and everything Satan would come against us with -- could still need "deliverance" from a "generational bondage."

If we are forgiven, we must walk in it.

I believe that a lot of our behaior is learned in our enviroment as we grow up. I was just discussing with some of my relatives this very topic over the weekend. MY great-grandfather had 26 children by two wives. In was in the early 1900's and times were tough in Tennessee. Life was tough and so was he. The behavior learned in that home has transended down generations. Many of these children were/are just as hard, cold, and mean natured as great-grandfather. Few knew the Lord and most lived a meaningless life. My grandfather, who was one of the 26 moved away from home at age 14 and married my grandmother. They lived in another town. He was successful in business and raised his family well. I think the only reason he, my dad, and myself and not like the rest is because he moved away from the problem.

When we accept the Lord, we do turn from our evil ways. We must change our environment to nurish our new life.............

You make some very good points rascal. My dad was much the same. He moved away from the problem and the differences are readily apparent.

I agree with most of these post. Generational curses do not exist in the sense that you can be punished because of the sins of your fathers/grandfathers etc.

However as mentioned, we can be plagued by families past behaviors and bad decisions. Behaviors that can be repeated generation after generation until someone is able to move past it through Christ.

When we are saved we are FREE from every bondage! He nailed it to the cross praise the Lord.

Hope that helps

Excellent comment onelove.

Those who are in Christ Jesus have been freed from bondage. Paul said this exact thing. Good job.

Thank you all for your replies! Your words really make sense to me... I was having a problem with the "curse" thing... We have been told several things from other family members about our grandmother and it is a little hard to believe because "the sweet little lady that we knew couldn't have possibly done that"... But while reading your statement a light went on... For all my life anyway, my grandmother attended church regularly and as far as I knew she was a Christian...so she was a different grandma.... Isn't it amazing when we stop long enough to look, we can really see Gods hand on and provision for our lives through something someone did (accepting Christ) generations before... Who knows where we might be if that one person hadn't made a change!!!!!! Proves just how important it is to reach "one" for Christ...........

Robertson: Haiti 'cursed' since Satanic pact
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/ ... ml?showall

"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it," he said. "They were under the heel of the French ... and they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, 'We will serve you if you'll get us free from the French.'

"True story. And the devil said, 'OK, it's a deal,'" Robertson said. "Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after another."

His words, which refer to a piece of Haitian folklore about the country's founder, Toussaint L'Ouverture, come around the 6:00 mark in the report above, which also includes interviews with missionary groups active in the country.
