Haystacks

Postby soulsearcher » December 18th, 2008, 5:20 am

A simple sweet 'n salty snack:

1 cup pretzels, crunched

1 cup chinese noodles

1 cup peanuts

1 pkg of almond bark

In a large bowl combine pretzels, chinese noodles and peanuts.

In a separate microwavable bowl, melt almond bark. One minute on "high" is usually sufficient. Melt to consistency of softened butter, then stir to liquid state.

Pour almond bark over dry ingredients and QUICKLY stir to coat (this stuff sets up real fast!)

Spoon "haystacks" onto wax paper (about the size of a golfball) 2-3 inches apart. Let stand for only a couple of minutes. They are almost "instantly" ready for serving or storing.

HINT: You'd better double this receipe because you will eat half of it!

*TIP: I spray the large bowl lightly with non-stick cooking spray

We love these only we use butterscotch chips instead of almond bark.

I bet this would be good using chocolate also. I'm making candy tonight and I think I will make some of this with almond bark, some with butterscotch and some with chocolate. I better tape my mouth shut so I don't eat all the goodies, they are going to work tomorrow for gifts.

Soulsearcher the butterscotch haystacks were the best, the chocolate ones didn't turn out that well, also the almond bark haystacks were good. I made some without peanuts because I am allergic to peanuts, I used some chex cereal, they were good.
