Hey guys! I just thought I might stimulate something of a random and mindless discussion.

I am a big fan of song lyrics that say something familiar but in a unique and poetic way. I was just wondering what are your favorite song lyrics (regardless of genre)?

A few of my favorites that come to mind:

Switchfoot - "Stars" - "I've been thinking maybe I've been partly cloudy, maybe I'm the chance of rain..."

Brad Paisley/Allison Krauss - "Whiskey Lullaby" - "She put him out, like the burning end of a midnight cigarette..."

Brian McKnight - "One Last Cry" - "My shattered dreams and broken heart are mending on a shelf..."

No elaboration and commentary is necessary. Just share what you think is poetic...

I like a bunch, but one I particularly think is a good line was in a Paul Thorn song:

"You whispered promises in my ear, yeah.
You set my soul on fire.
But now I know you're nothing more
Than a beautiful liar."

That song is full of good lines.

I also like:
