Pew Chairs

Postby biblemanryan » January 11th, 2011, 4:14 pm

I was looking into some various Chair companies and was wondering what kind of experience anyone has had with the various ones. Quality of chairs versus pricing, etc. Thanks for any input.

It's been many years since we purchased ours, but we got them from churchchair.com. Tip: Most companies will send you a free chair to sample.

Bertolini. Best construction I found and solid reputation. Yep... Free sample chair.

Bertolini for us as well. They gave us three sample chairs because I was undecided on the kind and color.

The chairs have held up very well and we have dozens of children of all ages.......and some fat people too!

I don't have experience myself, but we visited Rose's grandmother at Thanskgiving and her new husband (a deacon in their church) was showing of their new chairs to me, and said that a small local company had done them, and they seemed to be really nice, if you want to check out a smaller company that may not be as well known, but seems to do a good job, check out http://www.fellowshipchair.com/

Make sure the screws holding the backs on do not attach in a way that will give way to weight and/or excessive moving of chairs. We had a problem at one church with screws/backs becoming detached. I can't remember the company.

Another tip: You can save some extra money by not getting pockets or under-chair racks on all the chairs. We did half and simply alternate. Works great.

We love ours. We've had them 1 year now. Yes, save money by only getting the pockets on maybe the 1 you plan on putting on the end. We've got racks under all ours but I can see having them on only every other one, too. The only problem we had was we got ours from a company in Atlanta (I don't know the name) and we had problems getting them shipped. We ordered in October and didn't get them until the end of January and then the pastor had to send a truck from the company he works for to pick them up. Our small order (100) wasn't large enough for the company to send a truck out. We got them at 9:00 the night before our dedication service, and had to do the final pickup and delivery ourselves.

Racks

Postby Pastor Gary » January 15th, 2011, 9:18 am

If you do not use hymnals, do NOT get racks! They become garbage collectors fast. DO get side clip connectors so you can hook chairs together in a straight row when needed. You will regret not getting them if you don't.

We are about to purchase chairs ourselves. We are going with Bertolini. Great price and the sample chair has been great.

We were advised by people with experience not to use CHurch Chair in Rome Ga. They have since filed chapter 11 I believe and people are not getting orders they have placed or the products. Some have not even had refunds. One of the COGOP members near Rome shared a great deal of trouble with Church CHair with me, when I was enquiring as you have.

Here is the guy I am dealing with. He is great. Let him know that Pastor Keith from Sonrise CHapel COGOP told you to contact him, if you do connect. He give you a great quote and free sample chair

I agree 100%. When we built six years ago, we purchased our chairs from Bertolini. The workmanship is great and they were delivered ontime. We have had two chairs that had a seam to break. The seats were replaced quickly and without any problem.

Some complanies offer a comfort seat, which is nothing but a hole cut in the board in the seat. Don't buy it, it will weaken the seat. I sure am glad we did not use this option. Also, our chairs from Bertolini were built with plywood and not particle board. We purchased enough to get a great price as well.

The connector clips that PG mentioned are required by the Int. Building Code that we had to build by, something about safety in case of a fire, if I remember correctly.

So far these have been great for us

Postby darylscook » January 17th, 2011, 10:42 am

We purchase The Worship chair by
Gabrial Church Service

http://www.worshipchairs.com/the_worship_chair.htm

It is a cheaper chair, but that is what we needed. So far we have been quite pleased. But for $33/chair ($36.94 after shipping to Mississippi), it was what we needed. While we don't use our hymnal near as often, the book racks was a comfort to our older folks. Yes you always need the "ganging" clips.

We ordered and received the chairs in about 4 weeks. It would have been less, we ordered them about 2 1/2 weeks before Christmas.

They don't offer a free chair, we bought a couple to look at and sample before we purchased 98 (they let us use the 2 we pre-bought to count towards the 100 price break amount).
