I have noticed some people praying for comfort for the family in this difficult time and others praying for a miracle healing.
I suppose we could pray for both. Anyway have you ever watched as two groups of people seem to pray against one another all with good intentions?
Pray for this man and his family.
This happened with my mom. Now trust me, I wanted a miracle as much as anyone! But when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer I had resolved in my mind that all of life (and death) is in the hands of God. I was actually at peace with alot of it because I knew my mom was a faithful servant of the Lord and had fought the good fight. There was no doubt, none I tell ya, of where I thought she would spend eternity.
So for me I was resolved to allow God's Hand to remove her from this world and bring her home.
On the flip side, other family members believed wholeheartedly for a miracle and seemed not to even entertain the idea that it would be [i]ok[/] for her to pass.
I think there was room for both (kinds of) prayers in heaven.
The only thing I noticed though was that when she passed there was a family member who seemed very shocked. Even wondering if mom had lost her faith and if that was the reason she died.
Those thoughts were from a place of grief I imagine. A place of dismay and doubt and feeling the loss of such a great and God fearing woman no longer here.
I just think we should learn to leave the workings of life and death in the Hands of the One who holds Life and death in His Hand. It's isn't easy to loose a loved one, even Jesus felt that pain when he wept for the loss of His friend Lazarus. But I suppose there is room for prayers of a miracle and prayers for peace in passing. We serve a big God!
