Beach Day at Church

Postby Susie Hamilton » August 16th, 2009, 12:57 pm

We had a beach day at church this morning, everybody came wearing their beach attire, no swimsuits or speedos allowed. It was a wonderful service. This afternoon we had a baptism at the ocean front and had 13 new people baptised. The Pastor and Youth Pastor, in black tshirts, did the honors.

I have to admit, if someone had told me this 20 years ago I would not have believed it. Yesterday there were people getting baptised in their swimsuits and no one had a problem with it. It was awesome.

I rejoice with you concerning your service and wonderful results, but I am curious about the perceived contradiction in your posts?

I suspect that they wore something else for the service, and might have been BAPTIZED in swimsuits... at least I have seen that here.

What do you suppose the disciples were baptized in?

You are right PG. No swimsuits were allowed during the service at church. The baptism was later in the day and some of those people were enjoying an afternoon at the beach as well as being baptised.

I don't think that he was joking and I'm not either. I don't think that the one doing the baptising should not have been exposed to that much flesh at least during service and other wise. In a world were any thing goes may be alright for some but not for a lot of us and surly not with God. Before everybody jumps on me this is my two cents and you have your. Now if you want to go into a discustion about it, then go to the "doctrine" and lets do it were can talk about it and leave the disscusion section as such.

BTW I mean no harm to anyone involved, just don't see it that way.
God Bless

I remember many years ago when one of our military chaplains had a revival break out on base, and U.S. Marines were being saved right and left. He baptized 20 or 30 of them in the Pacific Ocean and sent a photo in. which was printed in the White Wing Messenger. Did the WWM get tons of letters praising God for saving a bunch of Marines?

Nope. They got outraged calls/letters because the photo showed 30 bare-chested marines waist deep in the waters beaming with joy after baptism.
