For the Guys

Postby JohnDB » June 19th, 2009, 4:12 am

I tell ya what...

I like women...I am birthed by one
I am married to one

No one I would rather have by my side than my wife...
They are great in soooo many respects

but there are times I could really stand to be without the female species amongst us.
I will admit that they do keep life interesting...

I once heard that a man of exceptional reputation was offered by God the desire of his heart. He asked for a highway from Calif. to Hawaii.

God told him that it was impossible: the cost was prohibitive; the resources to immense; the cost far outweighed the benefits; and the impact on the ecology was to severe. "What would you like instead?" God asked.

"Well, how about a woman of unequalled beauty and wisdom, who would cook, clean, serve, love and obey me all the days of my life without ever complaining."

God replied, "Was that two lanes or four?"

Not me

Postby Pastor Gary » June 19th, 2009, 12:20 pm

As frustrating as the differences between men and women can be, I like women. A lot. I have always been surrounded by smart, funny, talented, lovely women and some of my most dependable leaders are women.

I would not want to live in an all male society for even a day.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Now I haven't said that I don't like women...

but there are times when the frustration level with them goes beyond any foreseeable benefit.

I enjoy the perception of a simple construction worker...OK..so maybe I ain't that simple...but I play the part well.

and when I get demands that are insane...

for example:
I seem to be a blanket hog...but I keep them all on my wife's side of the bed...while her half of the bed seems to be cut out of the middle...I am almost in the floor...and she is mad because I have taken all of the blankets....

I think you understand my point here.

and what is the thing with drinking my coffee in the morning...even after I offerred to pour her a cup...and bring it to her...but she refuses and then drinks most of mine.

I simply don't understand some of this behavior at all.

My wife makes and pours her own coffee, because I like mine stronger and black... plus she has this thing about drinking after others.

The female behavior I find most baffling is this:
A group goes to a restaurant. Everyone has the same menu from which to make a choice. We all choose (no, wait... I'll have this instead...) and the food arrives. At least one woman at the table invariably wants to "try just a taste" of what someone else ordered. Don't get that. Never have, never will.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

I'll have to say that the most baffling behavior is the rearranging of furniture. If we never changed the setup, I'd be happy. But women seem to need to "nest" every so often. They can't help themselves. I don't get upset, I know to just accept it. Now the couch is over there. I get it.

That's funny...I'm glad I'm not the only one with that same problem...

I happen to like to cook a little...mainly for myself...but it drives me crazy to go to the kitchen to prepare a snack and I ASK my wife if she would like something...she says "No"...it never fails that she always wants some of mine....it use to really frustrate me because I would prepare the exact amount that I wanted....now I know that when she says "no" she means that "I'll just have some of yours" and I fix extra...

Pastor Gary...my wife don't like to drink after anyone either...except me...we still love to french kiss...so that kind of makes drinking after each other a null point...

XXX Eating and/or drinking after one another is a huge NO NO in our house (mutual agreement).

I love to cook for my wife. She's a 2nd grade school teacher and works hard (has for 25+ years), and often exhausted when she gets home. I enjoy unwinding by cooking, and she gets to just relax. And I always clean up my mess and wash, dry and puy away the dishes, pots and pans.

My biggest gripe with women - in GENERAL (because there are always exceptions):

They think they have the exclusive right to shop for and dress their entire family.

Bulletin: I can buy my own clothes - especially socks and underwear - thank you very much.

So I take it that you wear the pants in the family

right after your wife buys them and picks out the ones she wants you to wear that day

"Honey, do these pants make me look as though I am no longer in control of my wardrobe?"
