Sadly.

I don't know if "mid-life crisis" is a real psychological phenomenon, but I have certainly witnessed some bizarre, inexplicable stuff when people reach a certain age, start to feel that life is passing them by, realize that the hopes and dreams of youth will never be achieved... it is the stuff of comb-overs, breast enhancements, liposuction, red convertibles, sexual affairs, and general foolishness.

I would agree with you PG. I see several as you say get to a point in their life (and ministry) and it appears that the strength of their youth is gone. Their miistry is not where they thought it would be by this time. And they still have a desire to accomplish something for God, make a mark. It may seem egotistic but non the less there. We all want to think we have made some dofference in this world.

To add a little to PG's list. It's also a time when some are trying to prove that they are not aging, that they still have "it." There are some that are living out a fantasy from their younger years that they were never able to accomplih before.

To some degree the spectre of aging haunts all of us. Some people can't cope with as well as they should, so they wind up makeing fools of themselves.

Yes Joey, they are very real and happen to most men.

I jus taught on that subject last Monday night.

I remember mine very well.......It was a nightmare. Thankfully because my wife and I study this stuff, she was prepared for mine and we are still together today.

It takes the grace of God and a very loving wife to make it through that
successfully.

How about any evidences of some difficult decision making? Have you seen men in this certain 'middle aged bracket' to actually wrestle with tough decisions during this curious phenomenon?

In my particular case, I was a SO. I found myself on my office floor crying for days.

I decided I wanted to get out of ministry and become the manager of a Pizza Hut....of all things....lol

I had my resignation letters ready and everything....

It can and will greatly affect you especially if you are not "upwardly mobile" during that period.

I have seen people suddenly buy new cars and have affairs on there spouse and start to party out of no where. It surely can effect people when they realize life is so short and feel they are not accomplishing what they wanted to and feel they have no time left and want to make themselves feel they are not getting older.


Joking a bit here but i have been in a "quarter life crisis" since 25 and now that im turning 31 next week it is more evident

The problem with breast enhancements is that if you get them too big you won't be able to fit into your convertible.

My convertible is a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron that cost me $1,500.00. Maybe I'm having a poor man's MLC. ?????????????????????
