Come on, commit before the bandwagon starts in either direction on this thing.

Why should he use the Olympics to make a political statement? We don't want terrorists doing the same do we? Shoot, China could play tit for tat and boycott Wall Street. I'm thinking they would win such an exchange.

What does it matter one way or the other if a Lame Duck of a president goes and watches a bunch of people march and put on some incomprehensible program?

Look, everyone knew who the Chinese were when the IOC chose them to host the games. Lets not get all outraged now. They never should have gotten the games, but now that they have them, what's the point of boycotting the opening ceremony?

I believe that Bush should to send a message to the Chinese government that their occupation of Tibet, their treatment of Christians and other religious groups, their treatment of political opposition, their labor practices, and their fondness for lead is wrong and is morally unacceptable and they will get no pass for economic reasons. I wish there had been this much of a call back in 1936.

Exactly. Boycotting the Olympics is moronic. Let's all boycott Chinese imported goods at Wal-Qaeda instead. 8)

I know you say this at least partially in jest, however, let me point out the unfairness of what you said. Find me a store anywhere in America that DOESN'T sell Chinese made merchandise. I bet even your "neat little shops" up in Oregon sell stuff made in Beijing.

:D
