How can I find my password and how can I reset it? I have tried and cannot find out how to do this. Please help!!!!! Thanks!!!

Wireless What.. router??

If its a router. Most routers have a way to do a a factory reset.

What is the brand/model of router..

If you have or can download the manual for the router, try logging into it with the default credentials.

If you are looking for the hexadecimal security key to make a connection, and if you did not reset the factory login credentials for administration, then you can usually access the router configuration by entering its IP address into your browser and log in with the default user/password combination, usually "admin" for user and "password" for ... well, you know. I have had a couple routers that used a blank for the user and "admin" for the password.

If there is another computer that can make a connection, there is sometimes a way to make the password visible, instead of "*********", depending on the operating system used.

unless you have a cable to connect your PC to the router, you won't be able to access it's admin panels/control area. but you should be able to reset the device to factory settings and then start again. factory reset depends on the manufacturer and model. though some have an inset little button on the back/bottom, with a label that says "reset". if pushing reset once doesn't reset to factory, sometimes you need to press and hold the reset button for a few seconds, then it should factory reset.

remember, though, if you reset it, you will need to re set it up, and add a password back in for admin, as well as for your WiFi security.

I have a dlink router and cable modem. Model DIR-615. I saw the small reset button on bottom. On router it says default router IP address, username-admin and password leave blank.. I do want to reset it and start from scratch so I can lock it down from others and reset the password that I messed up before. I just want to make sure I have time to focus on this and get it right.

on page 62 at the bottom Item 2. tells you how to reset to
Factory Defaults...

I reset the router using the reset button. I then created a new connection for my computer and used homegroup, it allowed me to use a password for this. So this should secure my computer from others, right? It did not give me an option after resetting to change a password. Instructions said to contact the company for that. Thanks for all the help!!
