Anyone using a Canon GL2?

Postby captaindw » November 6th, 2007, 10:02 am

Hello folks,

Is anyone using a Canon GL2 camcorder for personal or church use? I just bought a used one, and will be using it for short films for my local church and some California Spanish video projects.

I would like to get your impressions about the camcorder, and any "tips and tricks" that you may have.

Finally, does anyone know of (or have) a training DVD for this camera?

The GL-2 is a wonderful camera! I have used one for 3 years. Great Canon optics. Your have a camera that has been used on short films, commercial work etc. It has many features. One of the only draw backs I see is depth of field on the fly. There are ways of tricking the camera though. Go to manual focus. Focus your subject and then push the button for auto focus. DA DA!! Your background will be blurred! Go to youtube. Type in GL2 It has some things. Not much! It is more about learning what your eye can see and how you tell "the story." Framing, etc. Look up tutorials on "how to" video. Your camera is great. You can do all your pazzazz stuff with your editing system. Hope this has helped a little. Get to Shooting!! Email me if you need me.
