American Idol 2009

Who's watching? I'm enjoying it, even the annoying contestants who I'm sure are being kept around to annoy some of the judges (Simon). I was very surprised to see the Osmond guy sent packing. There are still some really good singers, though. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

PS-as a sidebar, Disney just opened an American Idol show that's pretty good. If you get down to Hollywood Studios, it's definitely a must-see (and for some of you, a must-audition - there are no age limits, either). I just did a blog about it, since some had asked me what it was all about.

I decided to watch it this year. You're right, axing Osmond was a mistake. They let some poorer singers through. They said he didn't stand out, but he and his best friend both stood out from many of the others. Of the remaining thirty-six, Adam Lambert is the standout for me, so far.

I always seem to question, "why did they let them through?" like the drama-queen guy. Or why did theylet Bikini girl go as far as she did.

so far, I like the blind guy who also plays the piano and also the guy whos wife passed away not too long ago. (he looks real similar to Robert Downey Jr... at least to me.)

I'm glad Osmond got the bump. His name offers him the break he needs in showbiz. Let an unknown take a shot.

Both the drama queen-guy and the drama queen-gal (Tatiana) should be on the curb with him, imo.

the first girl tonight reminded me of rosanne rosannadanna, I did not like her at all. What was with the bending over all the time?

the others so far (4 total now) have not been bad for first night.

agreed. Hadnt seen Ricky in earlier shows, but the guy has chops.
but there were sure some stinkers in there tonight as well.

Those are the three we picked in our house for the win for last nights performances. I thought Danny really did awesome! And I like that sassy gal Alexis!

Some of those who sang you knew they were done after the first few notes....

According to articles on Beliefnet.com, several AI contestants have Christian music connections:

• Danny Gokey is involved in music ministry at FaithBuilders International in Milwaukee.

• Michael Sarver leads a praise team at Harvest Church in Texas.

• Ricky Braddy used to sing with a gospel group Step of Faith, and attended Belmont University.

• Felicia Barton and her husband Loren are worship leaders at Freedom Fellowship in Virginia Beach, VA.

• Jamar Rogers is also in music ministry at FaithBuilders International in Milwaukee.

...any others?

I was entertained by Tatiana (for the wrong reasons) but she clearly isn't AI material, at least not emotionally. I thought she did good on her song - most people explode on Whitney's stuff. When she sobbed during the final song, that's just tacky and self-absorbed.

In my opinion, the blonde girl could have a career tomorrow. She is made for it.

Yeah, that's the sad thing about her. Girl really can sing. She's so bat-mess crazy though, that there's no way she could win.

Don't get too excited.
We get 3 for each set of 12.
Out of 36 you can only get 3 sets of 12.
Sooooooo... 3 times 3 equals 9.
Where are the other 3 coming from to make the top 12???
