what does your church do?

my perspective is i teach my children that when my church is in service we are at church. we do live in a world that people will not give the church their time. that's a fact. its not pointed at anyone individually.

And at what age do you stop "making" your kids go to church? Is it when they no longer live in your house, eat your beans and "depend" on you? Do you tell your kids that "I'm required to keep you in school therefore I'm required to keep you in church."? If so, that's a fine line to walk.

my kids love to go to church!!! have one of the best children ministries in the area. they would think bad of me if i didnt take them. but they know the rules, no sleep overs on sat. fridays are for that. wens, sun morning, and sun night are church!!!! and they love it. they are both saved and love God, and understand that church is important. we have prayed over them since the day they were born and are very proud.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but by children's ministeries I take that to mean that your kids have not yet reached the teen years? Let me explain where I'm going with this. When I was a kid the church had a great Gleaner(Children's Ministries) Program and I too was involved in it. BUT, when I reached my teens the church had nothing. I lost interest in church because I was "informed" that I wasn't "old enough" to participate. Oh I was fine to play the "lead role" in any plays that the church had. I was fine to sing in the choir(even do a solo or two). But I wasn't "old enough" to speak. I wasn't "old enough" to lead a service. At Youth Camps and retreats I was one of the "leaders" but at my local church I wasn't "old enough". I hope that your church has something to keep the teens interested in church. If not, your church will "lose out" on possibly some future leaders in the church. I've said it on here before but the COGOP lost a lot of my generation because we weren't "old enough". I hope things have changed. And believe it or not I'm glad to hear that your kids love church.

we also have one of the largest and most active youth ministries in the state and a very strong young adult group. we retain a high number of young adults after college. the young adults sit on the leadership board, make up most of the worship team, and our worship leader is on payroll and is 27 years old. i am 33 and am the assc. pastor and still work as the youth pastor all though most of the work is done by young adults. at central community your age has nothing to do with it. its your commitment. i say all the time to my generation, "dont expect to be leaders in church on sunday morning if your not there half of the time. commitment!!! dont expect to lead worship on sunday morning if you cant make it to prayer service, commitment!!! dont expect to be respected if you dont show interest in all aspects and age groups!!!
