Brunswick stew is really just a term for a thicker "veggie soup" whose ingredients depend on what you need to use out of the fridge.
I've made it with beef, chicken, and venison. I've eaten it with squirrel and rabbit. (born and raised in the country) Veggies depend on what I have on hand.
I have used V8 as the base opposed to tomato juice and both are good.

I have never thought about using V8. I will have to try that.

Big Bob Gibson's BBQ, based here in Decatur, makes a killer Brunswick Stew, as does Whitt's BBQ based in Athens, Alabama. Mmmmm. Had some last week.

My wife makes a really good brunswick stew, but I'm not sure what her recipe is. I know she uses pork and chicken in it.... She's been busy putting all of her recipes on the computer lately, I'll have to see if it's one she's already done.
