Holiday Meatballs

Postby Shellie » October 28th, 2008, 2:00 pm

1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
2/3 cup plain dry bread crumbs
1 egg slightly beaten
1/4 cup water
3 TBS. minced dried onion
1 TB garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Sauce:
1 cup Heinz chili sauce
1 cup grape jelly

Mix your first 8 ingredients together like you were doing a meatloaf. Roll into golf ball size balls. Bake in a greased pan in a 450 degree preheated oven. Drain grease when done.

Melt your jelly together with your chili sauce in a sauce pan until heated through. Pour over meatballs.

NOTE: These are MUCH, MUCH better if you make the meatballs up a day ahead and then bake them the next day.

BBQ Meatballs

Postby mavislb » November 1st, 2008, 10:26 am

Meatballs:
3 lbs hamburger
1 c. evaporated milk
2 c. crumbled saltine crackers
1 med onion, chopped
2 eggs
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. pepper
2 t. salt

Mix meatball ingredients together and form into balls the size of a walnut. Larger will just take longer to bake but works good. Place in a 9 x 13 pan and cover with sauce. Bake for 1 hr at 350 degrees. Keep hot in a chaping dish or crock pot to serve.

Sauce:
2 c. catsup
1/2 c. chopped onions
1/2 t. garlic powder
2 T. liquid smoke
2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 can beer

Bring all ingredients to a boil in saucepan, pour over meatballs & bake.
