ONE SENTENCE THREAD

Postby soulsearcher » July 2nd, 2007, 5:50 am

Let's try writing a new story; one of mystery and intrigue.

Rule: One sentence at a time.

I'll begin with....

Crane sat alone inside the carriage making its way through the English countryside and watched the rain pelt the dusky forest.

Taking in the scene, his romantic imagination naturally perceived the dance of water and wood as the frolicking of naiads and dryads.
For the truth that lies at the heart of theology is not something there to be discovered, but something, or rather someone, to whom we must surrender. The mystery of faith is not ultimately something that invites our questioning, but something that questions us.

As the waterwheel slowly turned it brought up a body from the dark waters of the mill pond.

The first was a young man, well dressed as if out for dinner at a fine restaurant.

His companion was a short, powerfully built man wearing the drab and dingy clothes of a miner.

Both of the bodies had large gashes on the backs of their necks.

From all indications, it appeared both men had been dead only a short while.

Crane's carriage came upon the scene as the bodies were being pulled out of the water.

The finality of the scene jolted him back to the stark reality of why Alister had summoned him.

The distant roar of sea waves beyond the cliffs echoed in the abandoned village square as Crane's driver brought the horses to a halt.

Crane had two questions: what idiot built the mill next to the town square and where the blazes was Alister?
