Hounds of heaven

Postby Susie Hamilton » January 1st, 2015, 12:36 pm

Recently while talking with my Mother she used the term hounds of heaven. She said that was an old term. I did a search in the Bible and could not find the term. It referenced to the dogs eating Jezebel. Has anyone else ever heard of this term? Thanks.

I have heard it in the sense of being "hounded" as in being wooed by God to repent, etc.

Some preachers of long ago used it.
Human government bears the same relation to hell as the church bears to heaven. (David Lipscomb, On Civil Government, 72).

I remember a book titled "Hound of Heaven" by Francis Thompson. I found it on Amazon for sale. It's apparently a very popular book because there's several spin off books listed also. Maybe that's where the expression came from.
