Cell Phones-UPDATE

Postby INLOVE » August 7th, 2010, 3:50 am

I am getting a new phone. Don't know too much about either of these. Give me your opinions :)

~Ended up ordering the Droid X. It was the unlimited data that sold me. Same same monthly price as the Iphone, but it was with 2 gb

EXCEPT for the fact that you are stuck with AT&T. and ma-bell sux and blows chunkazoids. dropouts sitting on my couch from one minute to the next, and no moving. large stretches of no signal on the interstate. and if you get a iphone4, you have to hold it just right or have a "bandaid" to allow the antenna to actually work.

don't get me wrong, I like my iphone, but had I known about the lousy service of AT&T, I would not have volunteers to to be beta at work to get an iphone. I wanted it for one app, and now that i have that app on my ipad, i don't even use it on my iphone anymore. can't get unlimited data with at&t either. a broken advertised promise.
Thanks, Brent "RamboPreacher" Hoefling

Thanks for the opinions. Stevenson, that really helped. The only thing leading me away from the iphone is that you can't get unlimited data....

I have unlimited data because of grandfather clause and note to Rambo.. ALL smart phones suffer from the reduced signal according to grip. This isn't unique to Apple.

The iPhone is the most secure platform available and you get great bundle rates if you combine DSL, land lines, cells etc. Mine bundles so well that I get nearly free iPhone service.

It's the best on the market and is leading the industry with innovation.

I don't think Rambo was talking about lost reception due to the grip or other antenna issues, he was speaking about AT&T service. I do not have an iPhone because I detest AT&T service in my area. I had them for years and suffered horrible reception and even worse customer service in response to that service.

Jinjer.. I was responding to this basically.

I'm no AT&T fan either or any carrier for that matter.. But my iPhone is FANTASTIC and I use it in so many ways. I play my guitar directly into it.....I used it today as a witnessing tool... .And I will update to 4.0 as soon as I'm able.

I have had my iPhone for about 5 months now and have had great service in this area. When traveling I sometimes have problems but can deal with it. The reception is better than I had with my previous cell phone reception when traveling. I can do so much more with this iphone, I am glad I switched. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry, I missed that part!! I won't have an iPhone until they are not exclusive to AT&T.

Amen, Jinjer. I wouldn't leave Verizon for any phone.

I just want a phone that does what a phone is intended to do, make and receive calls.

Since when does At&T not offer unlimited data on Iphones and Blackberries?

None of you guys should complain; we have Nextel and it's like a roving signal it seems anyway. Our contract is up in September/October and we will be jumping ship to either At&t or Verizon. If At&t does not have unlimited data then Verizon it will be.

I don't know if they have unlimited data on their other phones, but I believe it is not available for the iphone.

Yes.. from what I seen on new contracts yes... and the reason is Tethering is finally turned on. Meaning you can connect your laptop computer via bluetooth and surf the web thru your iphone network. To turn this on (combined with the ipad success) they agreed to put a cap on it.

Thankfully.. I'm grandfathered in to the unlimited plan.. so it only applies to new users.
