Wedding Ceremony Help

Postby Sherry » March 10th, 2008, 6:07 am

Ok, this weekend after talking to my son and his fiancée about wedding plans, I told them I'd ask about wedding ceremonies, so I'm asking.....

Any of you minister's or anyone else for that matter, have a wedding ceremony that is "different" and not your run of the mill "do you take so and so, blah blah blah" stuff?

I would like to have some different ones for them to read through so they can get an idea of what they want. If you have one or two, and would LOVE to share  please email me a copy at yellowrosesgarden at gmail dot com (you know what to do there). A very grateful mother thanks you. :D

The coolest one that I have seen is the unity sand. There is a vase of colored sand for the groom and another vase of different colored sand for the bride. They pour them together into one vase to join them together.

Just like the grains can never be separated.............get the picture?

I'll include a link. It's very, very neat.

While doing the sand ceremony, would you have to play the "Days of our Lives" theme music?
"...The life you see me living is not 'mine,' but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that."- Galatians 19:20 (The Message)

Unique thing about our ceremony was we traded roses at the end.

I will have to find the link but it was very nice and different.

Soon as I can get it I will post it and email it to you.

Shellie, the sand unity stuff is great.

Sand... or salt

Postby fezzik » March 10th, 2008, 7:50 am

You could use salt instead of the sand if you don't like that for some reason...

Numbers 18:19
19 Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and your sons and daughters as your regular share. It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the LORD for both you and your offspring."

2 Chronicles 13:5
5 Don't you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

Salt can not be burned or destroyed. It was involved in offerings from Levi priests and symbolized loyalty.

From Wikipedia:
In biblical times, men carried pouches of salt on their belts. When a pact, promise, or contract was made, the men from each of the participating parties would intermingle the salt from their own pouches with the salt from the pouches of the other party. This reminded the men that they could not retrieve their own salt from the other pouch, symbolizing the fact that they could not go back on their word.

The unity sand is really cool. I did an outdoor wedding and it worked out way better than a unity candle. Plus it's something they can keep forever on a shelf or end table.

I've done several weddings in different nations and the one I like is in the Philippines where thry have the cord that wraps the bride and grooms hand together and the viel is lifted and part is placed on the groom, signifying him becomeing her covering.
You cannot effectively love and minister to others when you are obsessed with protecting
and preserving yourself.

I sent you a copy of the ceremony most often requested by couples.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Yeah brother, we'd love to see that too.

A wedding ceremony using HANDS as a central theme. I read a version of this somewhere (source lost in time) and rewrote my own version. It is the ceremony most often requested by couples from my church.

One thing that we did at our wedding that I thought was kewl was after being pronounced Mr and Mrs we did not run out or exit out quickly.

We exited while the minister was reading the scripture in Ruth?? about
whether thou goest I will go , Whether ..>>> etc.

it was kewl.

Ruth 1:16
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, [or] to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people [shall be] my people, and thy God my God:

Rth 1:17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, [if ought] but death part thee and me.
