Dad's Family Meeting

My Dad has recently started on Hospice Care. After 3 bouts with Cancer (last one he was healed and is Cancer free, they gave him only a couple months to live over 2 years ago before the healing) COPD and some Heart problems have brought him to this point, and the Doctors feel it would be harder on h...

Praise the Lord, it all comes together when God is the one planning, and we are willing to follow His lead!

I still open Jude 2 everyday and check in, but things have gotten very quiet.

We've worked through many of the big issues, maybe things are just settling down a little in the CoGoP.

David and Jonathan were not homosexual. In fact David's lust for women got him in some trouble at times. The verses they try to use are taken out of context. I agree there is a problem in churches that openly accept this as normal. At the same time they are also overreacting to the opposite extreme ...

We must love everyone, and we must welcome them, love them, and accept them as God's Children. This is commanded. But like any other sin, we have to preach and teach it truthfully, that is too often seen as hate, but if done correctly, that IS love. It is Love and Truth that set us free. We do need ...

Brother, I am so sorry you have gone through this. I have read and prayed, but many more wise than I have spoken, and they have given good advice. All I would add is that you take this time for God and you. Let Him minister to you and give you peace. Your relationship with your wife, your children, ...

I agree, you pointed out the most important things. 1. We shouldn't take control away from God (which is a point it sounds like your brother needs to consider himself), and it was laid out obvious to your brother through this incident. 2. We can't say this man's eternity, we can trust his earlier te...

The change with Women voting in business meetings came in the GA in 2000, just before I came into the CoGoP, I remember because the CoG made the same change in 2002 I think. They changed to use the term "ordained" for all ministers in 2000 and we made that change in 2002. I remembered it b...

Are they receiving appointments to larger church's and or overseer type positions? It's important to realize what you see in your area, may not match what others are doing, and may not be "Typical" for the CoGoP outside your area. In KY our state offices are doing regular training and equ...

It's important to realize what you see in your area, may not match what others are doing, and may not be "Typical" for the CoGoP outside your area. In KY our state offices are doing regular training and equipping for younger leaders (as well as for all pastors/leaders) This is becoming mor...

I agree completely with Gary when speaking of the local church. If our local church bodies were vibrant growing congregations there would be less need for "conventions", women's weekends, and so on. As a whole people would be receiving that at their local church. I also would rather atten...

Gary and Paul are not the norm. very few ministers have the energy and vision they have in their fifties or sixties. Many older ministers are just hanging on. There is a gap between age groups in COGOP. I feel I got a late start....37 and serving as a Assoc. Pastor. (by choice). I have a real desir...

I don't think the loyalty to the organization would be an issue in my local church either, but we have some in the US, and many overseas from what I have been told that are very loyal in those regards. The debt/bankruptcy issue really would be more of a strike against merger. Would the CoG really wa...

I started in the CoG, and really wanted to see that happen 10 years ago or so, but I agree with PG, it's not going to happen. 1. Leadership would have to step aside, yes some of our leaders would be welcomed into new roles with the CoG, but size wise most of our leadership would get swallowed up. 2....
