Re: Putting your money where your mouth is.

I have heard a lot from Cogop leadership about releasing young people into ministry. I am seeing some younger ministers being "released" in other parts of the world. Not so much in North America. Young ministers being placed in major leadership roles in North America seems non existent. L...

(1) What if the Assembly could be moved to another region of the U.S. -- where would you like to see an Assembly held? Vegas is inexpensive for conferences. Great place for evangelism. Inexpensive rooms, airfare, etc. (2) Let's push that a step further: if we call it the International Assembly, sho...

I'm just a bit confused. If the statistics aren't indicative of the actual situation on the ground, then the suggestion that the solution to our Current Financial System is simply "full participation" isn't accurate.

bummer.

Adopt-A-Block

Anyone have any direct experience working with an Adopt-A-Block ministry in the Dream Center mold where you weekly canvas a neighborhood offering to serve in some way? I'm just doing some fact-finding and want to hear about your experiences. How many volunteers did you have? How well were you able t...

I would probably emphasize the truth: "Obedience is better than sacrifice." I would not agree to whip him, but would likely suggest he live his life in such a way as to honor his father and demonstrate that the whipping was unnecessary and the lessons his father would have had him learn he...

Here's the newest statement, circa 1984. In the 45th Assembly in 1950, the following recommendation was approved: [...]unions to have work, but they are not to have any part in business matters in the unions. We further recommend that our members are not to take part in strikes unless forced to. In ...

Another tip: You can save some extra money by not getting pockets or under-chair racks on all the chairs. We did half and simply alternate. Works great.

It's been many years since we purchased ours, but we got them from churchchair.com. Tip: Most companies will send you a free chair to sample.

Re: Economic situations

I believe the coming economic disasters will force Americans to "re-think" church. With the national deficits on the rise (under EVERY President--not just Barack Obama), I firmly believe (and pray it is not so) that charitable organizations/nonprofits organizations (such as local churches...

Can anyone tell me what falls under the umbrella of women's ministry? And could those things be handled under some other ministry? I believe it's just Women's Ministry now (retreats, etc.). One Child Fund and Helping Hands, which previously were overseen by Cathy Payne, are now completely under the...

Yes. They eliminated Men's ministry (Askew) and Family Ministries (Duncan) a long time ago, along with the "Specialized Ministries" banner. I think it was over two years ago. I heard Women's ministry survived mainly because it was nearly self-supporting.

I've only voted mail-in. I wish I knew what it was like to actually go to the polling place and cast a ballot.
